recovered a stolen copy of the first edition of the novel “One Hundred Years of Solitude “Gabriel Garcia Marquez – said the Colombian police chief Rodolfo Palomino. Palomino did not say under what circumstances police recovered a book.
It is one of only 8,000 copies of “One Hundred Years of Solitude”, published in 1967, the Argentine publishing effort Sudamericana, with the addition of autographed Marquez.
The book was stolen last week with showcases at book fairs in Bogota.
The Collector Alvaro Castillo, who owned copies, stressed that for him it had mainly sentimental value. His many years of searching for the first edition of “One Hundred Years of Solitude” ended in 2006, year in the capital of Uruguay, Montevideo. Later Castilla also managed to win a dedication of the author.
