Presented at the exhibition charts show the extent of fieldwork and monuments discovered during excavations in Marei in Egypt. The work carried out since 2000 under the auspices of the Archaeological Museum in Krakow and the Centre of Mediterranean Archaeology. prof. K. Michalowski at Warsaw University.
Marea in ancient times was a major port town on Lake Mariute, near Alexandria. Since 2003 the Polish mission has been working in the Byzantine basilica. So far they failed to reveal the burial chapel and steam, which was supplied water from wells, with the help of the mill. Discovered objects date back to the period from the beginning of the end of the V to VIII. – Times heyday of the city. Most of the discovered monuments are architectural details, coins, pottery, some of which can be seen on the presented boards.
Opening of the exhibition curator combined with guided tours will take place at. 17 in the Town Hall.
