Review comic American Vampire – Blood, love and sharp teeth – Portal PPE.PL

On our comic workshop goes sixth volume of the series, which Snyder started in 2010 with the cartoonist from Brazil – Rafael Albuquerque. American Vampire says … yes, the vampire, but skillfully weaves the fate of the hungry red fluid in the history of not only the US but also the world. The thing starts with the Wild West in the 1880s Skinner Sweet – a ruthless robber, bandit and murderer, the walls of the persistent watchman James Booka right, gets caught up in a conflict with an ancient race of vampires, a native of Europe. As a result, suddenly he becomes a beast and naturally wants revenge on their persecutors. Sweet, however, different league than those European grandparents – just do not bother him either sunlight or piercing stud and his “birth” give rise to a line of vampires straight from the US. At the same time we know the fate of the other main characters – living in the 20′s Pearl Jones, who also involuntarily “feeds” an army of monsters, and still trying to live a normal life. In subsequent volumes we follow the adventures of Skinner and persons associated with him, written out throughout history. We hook up the environment gangsters in Las Vegas in 1936, World War II, and end up in the ’50s. Because vampires live forever, right? About this treats the first five parts of the series.

A sixth? The sixth is a separate story. In addition to the main story entitled “The long road to hell” and created by the well-known duo get anthology consisting of several short stories happening in the vampire universe that committed invited cartoonists and writers (including known-reviewed by our scalp Jason Aaron ). Therefore, all those who were counting on the fate of Skinner and Pearl must be patient. These measures shall be taken only in the volume number seven and eight (published in the US in turn in January 2015 and February 2016), where the Polish edition still probably wait. How, then, falls kit, which should be treated as a kind of aperitif before continuation? Very nice. Love tale, served here as a main course and the longest in history, has its own pace and drama and really atmospheric but at the same time slightly grotesque, but poignant finale. In addition, it appears in one of the favorites of fans – hunter Travis Kidd. So we know that Will is a lot of sauce. The flagship series duo keeps so fit because together with an interesting history, turning around a supposed cure for vampirism, go like always great drawings Albuquerque. Dash Brazilian is thoroughly comic, but sufficiently realistic, with characteristic thick strokes as well give themselves and faces extreme emotions. And this is the “Long road to hell” a lot. Ba, some saturated darkness personnel are among the best that adorned the comic of the six volumes.

However, interestingly falls anthology. Stories split into various years, which reminds us how rich is the history of vampires, and there are also various graphic styles in which they are presented. I liked the most characteristically coincided with colored drawings of Ivo Milazzo – known popular in Italy cowboy adventures of Ken Parker (no wonder, then, that illustrated by the Italian story is set in the Wild West) – and providing a series of Batman Eternal Ray Fawkes. But everyone will find something for themselves all the more that it is precisely in these stories scrolling good friends like Skinner, Chase Hamilton and Hattie Hargrove. Anthology is therefore a must for fans of the series and the perfect complement to the knowledge that we have acquired after reading the earlier volumes, and the entire collection – a solid comic horror. Unfortunately, it is the shortest of the existing volumes. It is also worth mentioning that calm can reach for him, even those who were previously with the American Vampire did not have to deal with. Here you will feel the atmosphere of this world, and if you like it, go ahead in anticipation of the subsequent volumes reach for those that have already been issued. Really worth it.
