Pomorskie the city they do not want to circuses with animals. “This is not … – Virtual Poland

• Gdyńscy councilors prohibit entry circus in town?

 • The largest city in the Pomerania do not want to admit circuses with animals behaved

 • President Tczewa: I think we should have a little confidence in law

– Work is in progress on the resolution of Gdynia City Council, which will be adopted at the next session of city council on March 9, 2016. It will define clearly the position of the city on this. Regardless, we are not interested in projections of the circus in our city. If such a request would affect about occupation of urban land, the decision is negative – says Małgorzata Omachel-Kwidzińska from Gdynia magistrate.

As explained Danzig officials, the city has no formal tools to introduce ban on circus. It can not only rent plots and sites belonging to the local government, which also makes the city. From 2013 to Danzig did not come no circus.

– In the last four years, the municipality does not wydzierżawiała municipal land in order to organize circus shows and we plan to continue this practice. Circus, especially using animals, it is not entertainment, we would like to see in Sopot. Quite different is the character of the city. So do not expect approval in urban areas to operate the circus – informs Wirtualna Polska Anna Dyksińska of Sopot city office.

Protection of circus animals became loud in June last year, when President Robert Slupsk Biedroń banned cyrkowcom entrance to the city. As the officials stressed the decision was motivated by doubts as to the rights of animals and their welfare. Tracing the Slupsk went Kolobrzeg, Srem, Wroclaw and Lodz. Recently he joined them Poznan and Warsaw. What bothered the defenders of the rights of animals in the circus business?

– No one would pay for a ticket to see aportującego dog, because circus trainers invent ever more bizarre tricks, more dangerous, more unnatural for animals. To learn animals such tricks – you need to reach for a unique method. They are not secret – just reach for the recordings made by former employees of circuses or hidden cameras – beatings, starvation, threats – using tools such sprawiających pain. So. bullhooków or electric prods, whips, batons. It is true that the recordings come mostly from abroad, but the first in Poland are foreign animals. They are contracted by the Polish circuses. Secondly, we have no reason to believe that in our country trainers behave differently than in England, Germany and Russia – said Cezary Wyszynski Wirtualna Polska Foundation “Viva”.

As the Wyszynski same training is only part of the problem. – Often escapes our attention the fact that the same buggys animals, up to more than 200 villages per year, and keeping them for most of their lives in cages on trucks causes stress, suffering and frustration of animals, which negatively affects their welfare. The animals are kept in small areas (large are Petan or tethering chains), often herd animals have to spend a lifetime with no contact with other members of their species. Not to mention the discomfort associated with the need to stay in an unnatural for themselves climatic zone – adds.

– The Municipal Office in Tczew not received a petition on the ban on the entry of circus to town and such a prohibition does not apply. Last topic made a loud, due to the expression of animal lovers. I think we should have some confidence in the law, because they are state institutions established to guard the living conditions of animals in circuses. When it comes to some irregularities, of course, these institutions should respond immediately. Circus animals are the most common animals born in captivity now – what to do with them, when circuses will have to get rid of them – asks in an interview with Wirtualna Polish Miroslaw Pobłocki, president Tczewa.
