I recently found an unknown novel by Harper Lee, author of “To Kill a Mockingbird.” The world premiere of the book will be held in July, and the Polish bookstores, it will fall. Tells the story of many characters already known to readers.
“To Kill a Mockingbird” is considered one of the most important novels of the twentieth century. He talks about life in a small American town in Alabama, in the 30s of the twentieth century, during the Great Depression. The main characters are children – Smyk girl, her brother Jem and Dill playmate. Father Smyk and Jema – Atticus – a lawyer who, contrary to expectations, the white inhabitants of the city, to take in defense of an African-American who was accused of raping a white girl. Although it is clear from the beginning that he is innocent and was a victim of prejudice and racial hatred, white Maycomb community will believe the lies of the girl and her father.
“To Kill a Mockingbird” has spread far, with a circulation of 40 million copies, also filmed adaptations of the novel, in which he played the role of Atticus Gregory Peck.
Born in 1926 in the South American town Monroeville, Alabama, Nellie Harper Lee was, as the heroine and narrator of the novel, the daughter of esteemed local lawyer. The prototype form Dilla was Truman Capote, with which the author was friends.
Published in 1960, “To Kill a Mockingbird” was considered to be her only novel. Only recently found out that her friend and lawyer Lee found in the papers of the writer even one book manuscript Fri. “Go set a watchman”.
