He’s dead Andrew Lesnie – Oscar-winning Australian cinematographer, cinematographer for “The Lord of the Rings”. He died of a heart attack at the age of 59 years – said the BBC.
Lesnie received a 2002 Academy Award for cinematography for “The Fellowship of the Ring”. Along with the director and writer of the trilogy based on the story of The Hobbit Peter Jackson shot the other two parts of a “Lord of the Rings”, “The Two Towers” and “Return of the King”. He was also the author of photos to Jackson’s other films, such as “King Kong” and “The Lovely Bones”.
The death Lesniego officially informed the Australian Society of Cinematographers.
Lesnie began his career while still a student of film school, as an assistant to the first operator on the set of a horror movie “Patrick”. He was the cinematographer for such diverse films as “Rise of the Planet of the Apes,” “Babe, Pig with class,” “I Am Legend”, “Happy Feet” is a documentary about the implementation of “Mad Max”. His last film was the directorial debut of Russell Crowe, completed in 2014. “Source of Hope”.
