1. Genesis “Appeal to the Polish parliament the right to life for every unborn child and maternity protection”
The new socio-political situation created after the presidential and parliamentary elections held in Poland in 2015 revived the hopes of many Poles to strengthen the protection of the life of unborn children through the use of legal protection as children prenatally patients and conceived as a result of a criminal act. Compatibility of this postulate expected a significant part of Polish society is confirmed by public opinion polls. For example. In two national surveys conducted in the years: 2012 (by the Centre for Thought of John Paul II) and 2013 (CBOS) to the question “whether I support the right to life of every unborn child, without exception” – “yes,” answered respectively 80 % and 75% of Poles.
Polish initiative to amend the legislation took several dozen leaders of various organizations working to defend life and the family, operating in Poland, which at the turn of the year 2015/16 met in Warsaw. In order to achieve the objectives pursued decided to use a form of civic legislative initiative. It was agreed that first of all be covered by the legal protection of all the conceived children, without exception. Not aroused controversy also need to introduce into Polish legislation the provisions of improving the protection of maternity, particularly surrounding the special care and protection of the so-called. pregnancies with special needs.
In an environment of pro-life, but there was a fundamental division in connection with the proposal to introduce the amended Act provision on punishment of women who commit abortion. We want to point out that the current legislation, recognizing the woman’s second victim of abortion, disables it from criminal sanctions for illegal abortion. Under current regulations punishable by up to three years in prison subject to the physician / person performing the abortion, support staff, the person inducing the woman to terminate her pregnancy. Foundation “Pro – the right to life” with the environment associated with Stow. Christian Culture. Ks. Peter Complaints has strongly increasing the criminal penalties to five years’ imprisonment and taking it and of women committing abortion (with the possibility of eventual extraordinary mitigation of punishment by the court). This position was supported by several other communities. Polish Federation of Pro-Life Movements, bringing together 86 movements and associations in favor of maintaining the current statutory record tripping women engaged in abortions from criminal liability.
In connection with the situation arising Polish Federation of Pro-Life Movements could not turn on the citizens’ initiative tabled by the PRO Foundation, introducing the criminality of women. At the same time the Federation has launched a social campaign “We love EVERY child”, which is an important element of the campaign to collect signatures under an appeal to the Polish parliament the right to life for every starting-this child and maternity protection. Signatures will be collected until the end of August. and in mid-September will be communicated to the Marshal of the Sejm.
