About himself says he is a husband, father, and a man who does not like to spend evenings watching television in slippers. Known to a wider audience as a writer of horror from Malbork, musician and … elementary school teacher. We invite you to an interview with Luke Radeckim.
Anna Kaniewska: – I suppose that every interview with Mr. begins with a question about the fascination of classic horror …
Lukasz Radecki : – To be honest, I can not answer that question, because, after all passions do not choose, flow naturally from a variety of factors, from education to personal preference. I think the reason was a kind of escapism from reality in which I lived in his youth. My parents also saw to it that I not only did not look scary movies, but even brutal series of sensational. My peers in elementary school told each other while on breaks of various productions they had seen on borrowed VHS, and it is known that the forbidden fruit tastes the best. So he imagined these movies and scary scenes, until one day fell into my hands a book by Graham Masterton “Manitou”. Parents bans on literature, I fell head over heels in bulk then issued a small book with shoddy covers, which zaczytywałem passionately. Later, when I saw the first horror, I discovered that my ideas were scarier than the reality of the film, and therefore began to persistently search for what really scared me, I was looking in the later books of the thrill, the uncanny, which is admired earlier. And so somehow naturally fascinated by the fact still underrated genre. Another thing that this weirdness, and the horror is really very safe, closes the cover of books or minutes of the film, is a kind of catharsis, allows us to experience the thrill of no consequence. I appreciate the horror, but do not take it seriously. It’s always been just entertainment.
– At the beginning of this year you released collection of short stories “Horror Class B”. He admits to a fascination with Mr. King, Masterton and Lovecraft. Here we find a completely different approach to horror. Where did the idea for this book?
– Firstly, for the love of the trash, which lied in the form of kiosks Movement handheld horror and analogous similar titles in video libraries. Secondly, out of spite. The fact that zaczytywałem with such books or addicted to watching such films does not mean that they do not look at it critically. Every story that I have made in this set, I surrender myself to criticism, pointing out the errors of both himself and variety of species. It was a very risky surgery, but I decided that it was worth to show that horror can like thanks to these imperfections and errors.
I believe that if it is necessary to distance horror that many people are missing. It’s just a story. This is also a way of dealing with the own past, to pay off some debts and to emphasize that I am not ashamed where I come as an author. I do not exclude that in time to stop writing horror movies, but I do not want to renounce that, like them, or that in his youth admired them.
– you announced that “Class B Horror” is the penultimate approach to stories. What are your literary plans for 2015?
– Spring will be released novel “The Nightmare” which I wrote with Robert Cichowlas, tells us about a couple who moved to the mysterious town of Hawaii. There survive a nightmare. Shortly thereafter, will be released second novel I wrote with Rob, and its theme will be a zombie, which is rampant in Poland. In this volume, we will focus on Gdansk and Malbork. I also hope that this year will be released the third volume of my series “God Horror Fatherland”, where I combine horror with science fiction and post-apo. It’s real plans, but I also work on a few other things.
– You also deals with music. Creates teams Acrybia, Damage Case and wolves. The Lord himself admitted that the last few months have not been the most productive. Is in the near future something will change?
– It is difficult to answer this question. Each team recorded the album, which is waiting for the release, for various reasons, much delayed release. But I increasingly devote himself to writing and getting harder to find me time to music. Come what may. I do not hurry anywhere.
– You write horror, metal bands playing and learning in primary school. How such a mixture is checked every day when you come back to his wife and children?
– usual. I am an ordinary man who simply performs consistently their passions. People go to work, and deal with it what they like, over the weekend indulge in a bit of extravagance. And I have the same. By day, I work at school, because I love working with children and youth. Late in the evening instead of sitting in front of the TV or computer, I’m writing a book. From time to time over the weekend I go somewhere to play a concert, as others go to the pub or on the fish. And since I do not go too far, not a problem to go on stage and two hours later to be home with his wife and children. This of course affects social life, which in principle does not exist, but this is my conscious choice. The only drawback of this mixture is chronic fatigue, but I would not swap it for anything else.
– I know that you studied in Elblag …
– In the three years studied Elblag Polish philology at the State Higher Vocational School. Commuted to classes from my hometown. Most pleasant memories classes with prof. Pits. He was a patriot and a fanatical lover of Elblag. All historical events compared to his beloved city. To the extent that when he spoke of Kierkegaard, is recalled his visit to Konigsberg, because the closest Elblag. I love Theatre. Andrew Sewruk. I visit it at least twice a year. As a student in the classes every week went on trial performances. Now often I visit the cinema in Elblag, because unfortunately there is no such interest in Malbork.
