Yasar Kemal, considered the epitome of Turkish literature, died Saturday at the hospital. He was 92 years – Turkish CNN reported.
Kemal since mid-January suffered from respiratory problems, he also had a heart arrhythmia.
This eminent writer of Kurdish origin was the most famous Turkish writer to the granting of the Nobel Prize in Literature Orhanowi Pamuk.
In his work moved rural themes, characters making the poor, but the righteous. Reached the folklore and worked on the old Turkish literary stories. He is credited with the revival of Turkish literature, purified by Ataturk with accretions Persian and Arab, which brought a lot of words from everyday language.
Recognition of the novel won the “Ince Memed” (Small Memed, Vol. 1-2 1955 -69) with famous Turkish Bandit, which was translated into many languages and for which he was nominated for the Nobel Prize. In 1997 he was honored with the Peace Prize of the German Book.
After the Polish appeared in “The Legend of a thousand bulls” (1983) with a dying culture of Anatolian nomads and the stories in the anthology “Paradise ship” (1976).
