The discussion Fri. “Leisure Industry”, held at the Economic Economic Congress 2016 was dominated by issues related to obtaining funding for culture and entertainment. Kamil Durczok, moderating the panel asked whether and to what extent the State to comply with the obligation to finance this area.
According to the Krzysztof Materna , satirist and co-owner MM Communications , on the use of public money is still a lot of catching up to do. – In the case of strategy and regulation of public funding must be separated from entertainment projects noncommercial educational or artistic, such as. Music or theater, which must subsidize, because they alone are not able to earn for themselves. Another thing is the lack of regulation concerning the sponsorship of cultural and sporting. – Currently, sponsorship is often the whim of the president of the company. The only area which has gained its own fund, a cinema with its own funds in the form of PFI – said Materna.
On this occasion, he drew attention to the manifestations of mismanagement of public funds. – Perceived lack of regulation is to assist in the efficient use of budgetary funds for activities within culture and entertainment. Due to the lack of communication between the Ministry of Culture and local governments are formed, for example, large objects several hundred million zł, which then are empty – explained Krzysztof Materna.
The investment in culture pays off
counterexample in this discussion was the voice of the president of Katowice Martin Krupa , who presented the native investment which not only it enjoys great popularity, but also brings the splendor of the city and – what’s more – affects the position of Katowice.
– In Katowice, through investment in culture we change the perception of the city. And although directly on the culture, you can not earn it, but indirectly so. An example is NOSPR. This concept, and long-term investment, which helped to make a quantum leap for the promotion of the city. Thanks to it we have earned the prestigious title of “creative in the field of music Site” – emphasized Marcin Krupa.
Can you count, count on yourself
As it turns out, even as profitable field of leisure industry, which seems to be a sport, it meets their barriers and must benefit from the subsidy. As I explained Boguslaw Leśnodorski , co-owner, CEO, Legia Warsaw many sports can not be commercialized. – For this reason, the activities of the football co-finance sports niche. In this regard, we can also count on funds from the Ministry of Sports.
